What is Bharat Rice Scheme?

Bharat Rice scheme is an initiative started by the Indian Government. Under this scheme, rice is retailed at a low price of Rs. 29/ kg. The normal price of unsubsidized rice in the Indian retail market is around Rs. 50 to Rs. 100/kg and the economically weaker section of Indian society found it difficult to purchase the rice at this price. With the implementation of this scheme poor and middle-class consumers can buy rice in discounted price and they can save Rs 1500-2000 monthly. The rice under this scheme will be available in the packing of 5 kg and 10 kg. The Minister of Food and Public Distribution Mr. Piyush Goyal flagged off 100 mobile vans that will sell and promote the Bharat Rice scheme to the common people of India.

Objective of Bharat Rice Scheme

Bharat Chawal Scheme is launched to provide relief to people with low-income and middle-class consumers in India who found it difficult to purchase grain because of high retail prices. After ‘Bharat Atta’ and ‘Bharat Dal’, the Indian Government has launched the Bharat Rice, the subsidized rice will be available in packs of 5 kg and 10 kg. The price of Bharat Atta is Rs 27.5/kg, Bharat Chana Rs. 70/kg, and Bharat Chawal Rs. 29/kg. The prices of these grains are around 20% lower as compared to the current retail market price. You can buy Bharat Brand grains from e-commerce platforms, mobile vans, Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED, and NCCF outlets.

Bharat Rice scheme is available for all the residents of India who are financially unstable, poor, or economically backward. The government of India has not put eligibility criteria on the Bharat Rice Yojana. All the economically weaker citizens of India can apply for this scheme. But please note that this scheme is only available for the citizen of India.
